In 1966 I was working for arranger Claus Ogerman, writing songs and promoting his publishing catalogues. A lyricist named Scott English knocked on my door and we formed a partnership. We aimed for the British market. We tracked down producer/entrepreneur Mickie Most, who helped launch the British invasion. A year or so later, we wrote ‘Hi Ho Silver Lining’, and Most recorded it with Jeff Beck who made it an overseas hit. Today, the song has become an iconic Soccer-ball anthem in the U.K. Check my site for a video showing 100,000 plus people singing it at a soccer stadium!
